Martinique is an island in the chain of the Outer Antilles, half way between Florida and the coast of South America. It is 425 sq miles, has just over 400,000 people. It is a department of France; which is to say, its relationship to France is similar to Hawaii's relationship to the mainland US. 95% of Martinique is Roman Catholic. If Central American design can be characterized as being organic with an emphasis on primary colors, then the design of Martinique is geometric with the emphasis on secondary colors. |
