The Osama Surprise
Amos Satterlee -  February 29, 2004

It's flashing around the web that we got Osama and Bush/Rove are holding him for an October surprise.

What about releasing him to Pakistan during its Spring Offensive. The oil fields of Iraq are ruined and the Saudi fields have peaked compared to the relatively virgin fields of the -stans. Bush/Carlyle needs to secure access to those fields. Afghanistan looked like a possibility, but it's being too unruly. Pakistan looks like a better bet.

Follow on thought: no matter what, if they've got him, they don't want to wait until October -- voter cynicism will destroy them. Better to get the issue off the table before the convention.
