So many sites gone. The web lets anyone publish who wants to. The barriers to entry are so low. The cyberscape is littered with efforts abandoned. Worse, it is littered with domains that give nothing. People found that even though they can, they don't want to. Or they tired, or became embarassed, of yelling into the maelstrom of bits, their profound insights ignored or ridiculed.

The effort to do something decently takes time. To save time, we template. When we template, we close the path to the quirky individuality that enlivened so many of the early sites. Skyscraper left, content right, trackback, link and comment.

And what happens to those who want to work with their hands in this information society? Especially as manufacturing jobs are shrinking worldwide.
