Set one machine to be the PDC and one to be the Workstation |

Purpose: | To set up a two machine network domain in order to practice administration of an NT network. |

Method: | - The boot-up screen gives a series of choices. The machine that will be the PDC should boot with NT Server, and the other machine should boot with NT Workstation.
- Check that the machine has the correct operating system loaded by opening the Command Prompt and use the NET ACCOUNTS command.
- The other lines on the Net Accounts screen show certain access parameters for all the User Accounts on the domain which will be covered later.

Log on to the machine as Administrator. |

Purpose: | To get full rights to modify the operating system of the machine. |

Method: | - If on to the PDC, then the log-in will give access to the network domain.
- If on the Workstation, the log-in is local only to the Workstation.
- In both instances, the password is "password". The password is case sensitive.

Workstation: set to default to NT Workstation as the default operating system. |
|

Purpose: | So that no user intervention is required to load the Workstation operating system during a system reboot. |

Method: | - Open the System applet in the Control Panel
- Select the Startup/Shutdown tab.
- In the Startup window, select "NT Workstation 4.0".
